Roland Emmerich's latest "epic" delivers on the effects like his last few offerings and still seems to be lacking the energy and magic that made
Stargate and
Independence Day such huge box office hits. The no-name cast deliver fine performances but the effects are distracting enough to keep you from suspending disbelief to really go with the film as it unfolds. Also the almost
Krull-like ending almost made me regret seeing this movie. Maybe this film will get a better life on cable or DVD, but I don't think it will happen when there are other "epics" available and done much better. Rent
Apocalypto instead.
